Dear Friends at Fokida Fm!
My name is Maciek, I’m student 23 years old and live in Gora Kalwaria, a small town 30km south from Warsaw in Poland
I
suppose you haven’t expected – as a local station – to get a letter
from Poland. And though, since June 4th Thursday afternoon I hadn’t
been expecting to become a listener to a local radio station from
Greece…
I’m radio enthusiast and spend much of my free time
piching strange and distan singals on my radio equipped with outdoor
antenna. That Thursday afternoon at around 17:30 Polish time I turned
the tuner on and was astonished hearing lots of Greek stations. Most of
them were hard to identify, as I barely know just a few words of Greek
language, but my attention was captuped by a little different sounding
station at 92,9 FM. I decided to record the reception. It was clear in
stereo as you can hear on the enclosed CD. There was an entertainment
show with some programming tips for only (“mono”) disco-profiled show,
by the end I heard clear identification “to elliniko radiophono –
Fokida FM”. I Enjoy the station name wonder what does it mean…? The
reception lasted only a couple of moments and faded out rapidly (the
end of the recording). But I’m happy to hear you local Greek station,
witch is very exotic to me here in Poland – not via satellite or
internet, but from true FM transmitter somewhere there in beautiful
Hellada! Probably, the reception was caused by seasonal summer-time
phenomenon in the atmosphere witch makes possible such reception in
Poland from various distant European countries, so I wish to tune to
Fokida FM some time in the future when Greece appears on my radio
again. I will certainly check 92,9 again!
